14 Nov Proud to Be a Family-Owned Business
When you shop at The Man Cave Warehouse – for pool tables, air hockey tables, theater seating for the home and more – you will be dealing with a family-owned and operated small business. Since 1999, the Klopf family has been selling new and used pool tables, 3-in1 poker tables and more to other families in Florida.
As the Small Business Administration points out, “Small businesses are the lifeblood of the U.S. economy: they create two-thirds of net new jobs and drive U.S. innovation and competitiveness.” A report released in 2019 indicated that small businesses accounted for a whopping 44 percent of economic activity in this country.
“Nominal small business GDP measured $5.9 trillion in 2014, the most recent year for which small business GDP data are available,” the SBA reports. “The three largest small business sectors contributing to it were (1) the real estate and rental and leasing industry; (2) wholesale and retail trade; and (3) the manufacturing and mining sector.”

In Florida, there are an estimated 2.7 million small businesses that employ 3.5 million people, according to the SBA reports. That’s more than 40 percent of all of the employees in the state.
No doubt, Covid-19 will have an impact on those numbers. As you have likely heard, the pandemic has taken a heavy toll on small businesses. The Man Cave Warehouse has two locations – one in Orlando and one in Tampa (Odessa, to be exact) – and the Klopf family feels fortunate that both have enjoyed the support of the community during this difficult time.
Beyond the numbers, small businesses help give our communities their unique identities. As we move into the holiday season, we would like to invite you to join with us in supporting the families who are working hard to maintain their small businesses in your community.
And if by chance some lucky someone on your holiday gift list will be getting a pool table or maybe an air hockey table this year, we will hope to see you at The Man Cave Warehouse.
